Tom's service was remarkable in any number of ways, and many thanks are
due to those who helped out in so many ways. This page is changing rapidly,
but if you've been left out, please e-mail ngoforth AT earthnet DOT net.
The coordinating committee was: Nii Aramah Soweh, Bruce Swinehart,
Daphne Chellos, Bonnie Carol, Mary Ellen Garrett, Karen Marx, Laurie
Benblatt, Barb Kulton, Catherine Hunziker, Bonnie Carol, Nelson Goforth,
Tom's parents Dick and June DeFore and his sister Patty Ladd.
Cuisine By Design, a Denver catering company, provided an astonishing vegetarian
feast, donating a great deal of food and the services of many. Riverside
Health System of Newport News, Virginia and Starizon of Denver, for
whom Tom frequently worked, provided funds for the feast.
Tom's family requested that the Memorial Service be videotaped, so Ed Done
and Lowel Pierce provided cameras. Lowel, Ed and Samir Valeja operated
the cameras. Dean Schneider of Film/Video Equipment Service Company
donated the videotape. Many people have requested copies of the resulting
DVD. Stay tuned to see if that is possible.
Denise Strong coordinated transporation, and Alex VanNortwick provided rides
to visitors arriving at Denver International Airport.
Lisa Goldsworthy scheduled setup and cleanup crew. Lisa and Jim Goldsworthy,
Beth Ryan, Steve Davenport, Scott Daharb and Dana Eudaily all pitched
in.
Jeanne Kopek produced the edited video that went along with Tom and Lauri's
mbira piece. A.J. Koch edited the video and Phil Swanson scanned many photos
for inclusion. Warren Miller Films provided the video projector, which Joe Baran located
and operated for the service.
Donna Hattin decorated the Boulder Theater, and Linda Kriebel assisted.
Randy McIntosh and Amy Stewart provided drums and wall hangings for Theater
decorations.
Becky Fowler secured wall hangings and fabrics for
decorating the Theater.
Ken Seagren and Lighting Services Inc provided equipment and photographs.
Musicians: I don't have all the names, but pretty much every marimba and
mbira musician in Boulder, and then some.
For photos: Dayton Taylor, Dalton Helms, Ed Done, Ken Seagren, Thomás
and Cindy Cummings, Penny, Max and Bonnie, Reneé Arrington .

We still need someone to edit the mini-DV footage of the service, for
Tom's parents. Please call Ed Done: 303.733.2299

If you would like to contribute to Tom's most passionate interest
- assisting villagers in Zimbabwe with needs relating to health, schools,
AIDS medicines, orphanages, and mbira education, Lauri Benblatt and
friends have established a fund in his name.
